The National Archives and Records Service located in the City of Tshwane, preserves public and non-public records with enduring value for use by the public and the State. Documents archived by the National Archives and Records Service date back to 1652 and have accumulated to the extent that the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) initiated a project for the construction of a new National Archives and Records Service.
The new facility provides for an estimated 500 000 linear metres of storage space in a facility of close on 107 000 m2. Cutting-edge technology will ensure a national archive facility of international standard that will reflect the rich cultural past and the promising future of the people of South Africa.
